POSTECH Graduate Institute of Ferrous Technology (GIFT) Professor Chong Soo Lee has received the Distinguished Article Award from the Iron and Steel Institute of Japan (ISIJ) in October 2020 for his contributions to the advancement of the global steel industry. He gave a speech to commemorate the award at the 181st ISIJ Spring Meeting, which was held online because of Japan’s COVID-19 outbreak. The conference was held for three days from March 17 to 19.
The Distinguished Article Award is conferred to the best paper of the past decade published in the SCI journal, a publication of ISIJ and the Japan Institute of Metals and Materials (JIM). The selected paper must demonstrate excellence in academic and industrial aspects.
The title of the paper that Prof. Chong Soo Lee won is ‘Grain boundary engineering approach to improve hydrogen embrittlement resistance of Fe-Mn-C TWIP steel’.
Prof. Lee said, “I never thought of the award because it was published 10 years ago, but I am very happy to win it. As a member of GIFT, I am proud to be able to win international fame a little bit.”
