Dr. Hyung-Jun Cho, an SSL Alumnus, Selected for Humboldt Research Fellowship

Dr. Hyung-Jun Cho, a graduate of the Structural Steel Laboratory (SSL) at POSTECH, has been awarded the prestigious Humboldt Research Fellowship in 2025. Dr. Cho, currently a

 postdoctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Sustainable Materials (MPI-SusMat), received this fellowship in recognition of his research on developing next-generation 

steel alloys for extreme environments and hydrogen transport.

The Humboldt Research Fellowship, granted by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, supports outstanding researchers from around the world to conduct long-term research in Germany. Dr. Cho’s work focuses on designing durable and cost-effective steels without relying on expensive elements, contributing to advancements in materials science for 

renewable energy technologies.
