The excellent safety management laboratory certification system grants certification to a laboratory that has had no safety accidents within the past two years and a score of 80 or higher on 29 items including safety environment system, safety activity level, and safety awareness, by experts’ examination. The certification system was initiated to strengthen the autonomous safety management capability of the science and technology laboratories, and to discover and spread a standard model of safety management.

The laboratories of GIFT that were selected as excellent safety management laboratory are Casting Technology Laboratory of Prof. Chang Hee Yim, the Dean of GIFT, who took the initiative and set an example, two labs of the Special Steels Laboratory of Prof. Sung-Joon Kim, the Environmental Metallurgy Laboratory of Prof. Sung-Mo Jung, the Computational Metallurgy Laboratories of Prof. Dong woo Suh, the Casting Technology Laboratory of Prof. Jung-Wook Cho, two labs of CSL(Clean Steel Laboratory) of Prof. Youn-Bae Kang, and the Alloy Design Laboratory of Prof. Yoon-Uk Heo. It is the second time for the CTL (of Prof. Jung-Wook Cho) to be selected since 2017.

An excellent safety management laboratories pursues the stability of experimental equipment and the safety of the laboratory, so the accuracy of the experiment and the reproducibility of the research are high.
