Prof. Hyoung Seop Kim, a JA professor in the Department of MSE and GIFT at POSTECH, was appointed as the president of a society representing the domestic materials and metals field.

First, Prof. Kim was elected as the vice president at the regular general meeting of the Korean Institute of  Metals and Materials, the most prestigious academic organization in the field of materials and metals in Korea, held on October 21st, and he is going to serve for two years. In addition, he was elected as the president of the Korean Society For Technology of Plasticity, an academic organization for plastic processing technology, and will be active for one year. The term of office for both of them is from January next year.

Prof. Kim, who is an authority on metal powder research and nanometal processing, joined POSTECH in 2008 and served as the editor-in-chief of Metals and Materials, a world-renowned academic journal in the field of materials engineering. He is also active in academic activities, such as serving as an editor for 'Materials Research Letters' and 'Intermetallics'.
