13 professors with outstanding achievements at POSTECH were selected as chair professors to invigorate research and improve the level of research. Prof. Hyoung Seop Kim was selected as the SeAH Chair Professor.

SeAH Chair Professor is a system that selects prominent domestic scholars in the field of materials and metal engineering and supports a certain amount of research expenses and stipend separately from the affiliated university. It is operated with the proceeds of the 1.5 billion won fund donated by the late Chairman Lee Woon-hyeong of SeAH Steel. Prof. Kim is developing core source technologies necessary for structural metal materials, and has accomplished 149 tasks after taking office. As a result of Prof. Kim's active activities, he was appointed as the president of a representative society in the field of materials and metals in Korea.
