POSTECH Signature Conference 2024 to Feature Global Scholars in Battery Technology

Leading global scholars in the field of secondary batteries, a key technology in the eco-friendly era, will gather at POSTECH (Pohang University of Science and Technology).

Hosted by POSTECH’s Graduate Program of Battery Science and Technology, the POSTECH Signature Conference 2024 will take place over three days, from January 18 to 20.

This international academic event leverages POSTECH’s network of partner universities and key research institutes worldwide. Each year, the conference selects its theme based on global research trends. This year, the theme is "Next-generation Batteries," with keynote speakers including Professor Arumugam Manthiram from the University of Texas at Austin, a leading authority in cathode materials, and Professor Jeff Dahn from Dalhousie University, renowned for his work on cathode materials for Tesla. Industry experts such as Dr. Jaeyoung Kim, CTO of LG Energy Solution, and Dr. Sangchul Nam, head of battery material development at POSCO Group, will also join to discuss research collaborations in the field of secondary batteries.

The lectures will be livestreamed, and participants can join through pre-registration or on-site registration via the official website (https://pco.postech.ac.kr/).

Professor Sangmin Lee, chair of the conference organizing committee and a faculty member of POSTECH’s Battery Science and Technology program, remarked, "As a global hub for sharing knowledge and insights in the field of secondary batteries, POSTECH is committed to advancing battery technology and fostering talent to address environmental challenges and create a sustainable future."

Since its inception in 2022, the POSTECH Signature Conference has grown to mark its third iteration this year. The event is co-sponsored by local governments, including Gyeongsangbuk-do Province and Pohang City, along with support from POSCO Holdings, the POSTECH Glocal University 30 Project, LINK 3.0 Project, the Graduate Program for Battery Specialization, and Regional University Revitalization Projects.
