Metal-hydrides (M-H) are formed by the incorporation of hydrogen atoms into metals, primarily through diffusion. This formation can lead to significant changes, for instance, in the crystal structure and its properties. In this talk, I will introduce metal-hydrides and their applications in hydrogen-storage and super-conduct. Furthermore, I will present the examples to observe the hydrogen in metals through in-situ characterization methods and the information we can obtain form these observations [1-2].
Also, I will discuss a newly discovered metastable phase of palladium-hydride (PdHx) that forms under hydrogen-rich conditions, and introduce a novel paradigm I have proposed for the discovery of metastable metal-hydrides [3-4]. Lastly, I will show examples of algorithm driven analysis not only for clearly observing light elements but also for verifying the structure of materials at the nanoscale [5].
