Aqueous zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs) regarded as a promising alternative to lithium-ion batteries for
large-scale applications due to their intrinsic safety and environmental benignity. Furthermore,
directly employing zinc metal as an anode and using aqueous electrolytes significantly simplifies
battery manufacturing. For example, aqueous ZIBs can be assembled without a dry room or glove box
requiring dry room. However, for practical use, achieving high energy density requires not only the
stabilization of Zn anodes but also the utilization of thick cathodes. Here, we introduce our strategies
for stabilizing Zn anodes via 3D structuring, surface protection layers, selective ion permeation, and
utilizing thick cathodes via controlling hydrophilicity of binders. I will also elaborate on the
mechanisms for stabilizing Zn anodes and preventing dendrites/corrosion. Additionally, I will discuss
how thick cathodes can be realized by controlling hydrophilicity of electrodes. Overall, our findings
will shed light on the development of practical aqueous ZIBs. Overall, our findings will shed light
