Recent extreme environmental demands have increased the importance of material reliability. Material reliability refers to the ability to maintain the initial quality and performance under given environmental and temporal conditions. Thanks to the development of extreme materials, issues such as low-temperature fracture toughness, fatigue life prediction using artificial intelligence, hydrogen embrittlement, and improving stress corrosion cracking resistance have become significant. In this talk, testing methods for fatigue, fracture, and corrosion properties for reliability will be explained, and strategies for enhancing the reliability of materials through alloy design, process conditions, and microstructure control will be suggested. We intend to present multifunctional alloy design approaches that demonstrate excellent reliability by considering not only the strengthening mechanisms of fine precipitates, but also their impact on corrosion resistance and stress corrosion cracking characteristics. Through this, we propose strategies for developing environmentally friendly, sustainable materials.
